WEBSITE VALIDITY CHECKLIST
 
____1.  Author
All webpages should have the author listed.  The name of the person who wrote the article and/or website information should be listed, along with his or her credentials.  A reliable website will have a link to information about the author or author information listed directly on the web page.  The author should also have an email address posted.
 
____2.  Sponsor link
Reliable websites will have a link to the website sponsor or host.  The sponsor or host should be a reliable source.  There should also be a link to the sponsor.  There should also be listed an address and telephone number for the sponsor.
 
____3.  List of information sources.
All credible websites should have their information sources cited.
 
____4.  Copyright dates
Reliable websites should have copyright dates and last modified dates listed.
 
____5.  Content pages should have a link to the home page.
All reliable content pages should have a link to the home page of the website.
 
____6.  Information relates to website.
A reliable source will only contain information that is relevant to the website.  For example, you would not find information about playdoh on a website about heart disease.
 
____7.  Content should be should be appropriate for academics.
The writings and the information should be in the tone of one that is appropriate for use in an academic setting.
